Gym F/X Fitness and Tanning

Thats right, downtown has another place to workout besides the YMCA. Don’t get me wrong the Y is a great place to workout, but is a bit out of the way for many downtown workers.  Gym F/X Fitness and Tanning located at the corner of 6th and Grand in the 418 Liberty Building. Skywalk access makes Gym F/X easy to get to over your lunch break or before work. This brand new 13,000 square foot workout facility has it all. They have free weights, cardio,  weight machines, locker rooms, certified Apex trainers, tanning, and a juice bar. I have never had to wait to use any equipment and the staff is always friendly and glad to help. To find out more about Gym F/X go to their website at www.GymFXandTanning.com

Miyabi 9

I just tried lunch today at the new Miyabi 9 Sushi restaurant in the East Village. I ordered the lunch special for $9.95 which I thought was a bit high priced. Once I recieved my food though, I changed my mind. You recieve one whole sushi roll, soup and 4 pieces of Nigiri. I don’t consider myself a complete sushi expert, as I just started eating it a year ago, but this is not your run of the mill, overnight sushi place.  They didn’t go over the top with Japanese decorations, instead they kept it simple and focused on the food.  The owner, Mike Miyabi has over 40 years experience and has owned four other sushi restaurants in the US and has also worked in Osaka Japan. Overall I really enjoyed it and will definitely be going back for more. I would like to go back in the evening to try some of their Japanese fusion dishes. One downside is the amount of construction going on right out front. Makes it difficult to park.
